The innovative planning suite
With SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) 10.1, version for SAP NetWeaver, SAP has taken a successful step towards a unified planning suite that combines the advantages of BW Integrated Planning, SAP HANA and SAP BPC.
SAP BPC 10.1 is available as a pure NetWeaver version and offers both a Standard Model and the new Embedded Model. While the Standard Model does not differ from BPC 10.0 NetWeaver, the Embedded Model delivers a planning suite that is technologically based on SAP BW 7.40 with SAP HANA and combines the planning components SAP BW- Integrated Planning and SAP BPC.
BPC 10.1 Embedded is characterized by the following features and functionalities, among others:
- Use of SAP HANA functionalities and thus also ensuring SAP HANA performance through the Planning Application Kit. This means that certain planning functions (such as copying, distributing, etc.) can also be executed directly in SAP HANA.
- Abandonment of InfoProviders in own namespace and use of real-time InfoProviders and aggregation levels of BW-IP
- Use of SAP BW queries that can be executed directly in SAP EPM add-in for Microsoft Office
- Provision of audit functionalities and use of business process flow for process support
The embedded model does not yet support all the usual functions of SAP BPC 10.0, such as the consolidation functions. In order to use these functions under SAP BPC 10.1 NetWeaver, the so-called Standard Model can be used. This ensures that all familiar functionalities are also available under BPC 10.1.
